What Lies Ahead (And Comment Contest Results!)

I know all of you have been checking this page all day, probably a lot more than you’ll care to admit, for the results of my comment contest. Well, the results are in. And we’ll get to them soon. But today is New Year’s Eve! I think I’m supposed to say a few things. I’ll keep it short. Many of you are probably at points in your night already (6:30 EST) where you can’t even read what you see on this page. Happy New Years, anyway!

2011 marks a year of monstrous change for me (and Yeah, He Did!) First off, I’m moving to New York City (tomorrow) to begin preparations for starting my new job at a sweet entertainment marketing company called Big Fuel, even though I don’t have a place to live. It’s how I’ve always done things, and generally always works out in the end. We’re hoping for the best. So expect a ton of new posts related to all of the excitement I experience in New York City. I’m planning for many strange and awesome things to happen to me.

I’ve never really been one to have a “New Year’s Resolution,” but since I’m starting to become a real person and since I’m headed into the unknown once again (though it’s markedly different this time around), I’m gonna do one. It’s pretty simple: I’m going to try to not miss a single opportunity that comes my way this year, whatever it may be. Agree to anything and everything, because that’s how life happens… that’s how you meet the best people, see the most interesting and exciting things, and learn the most about the world.

I know what you’re going to say. “Luke, that’s just the plot to Yes, Man. This site is becoming a sham.” Snide remarks aside, I know it’s the plot from Yes, Man. But look where it got him: dating Zooey Deschanel and learning to play “Jumper” by Third Eye Blind on guitar. That’s all the convincing I need.

I hope you’ve had as incredible a year as I’ve had, and I hope you have as amazing of a year as I’m planning to have. One year ago today, I was in Leeds, England, celebrating the New Year with some of the coolest and most interesting people I’ve ever met. This year, I’m only in my hometown of Blandon, with some of my oldest friends. May seem like a step back, but it’s a step back I need to take in preparation to take an infinite number of steps forward, starting tomorrow. It’s great to be with family, anyway!

And now… it’s time to announce the winner of this month’s Contest for Comments. Anyone who’s posted a comment this month was entered, and a random number generator on some website helped me pick the lucky number: 7 (not that you know what this means). And whose name is attached to comment number 7? Suspense suspense suspense… Melissa Montoya! Melissa, you’re so far away in Arizona, but I cannot wait to send you your autographed can of Progresso soup (flavor of your choice!). Let me know what you want! The world of Progresso is at your fingertips!

Happy New Year Everyone!
